Why Christmas scents sell in spiritual shops
At Christmas, shoppers come into spiritual shops looking for a scent: frankincense and myrrh, cinnamon, orange, vanilla or pine. Many leave with an incense and a candle, or a burner to go with them.

Frankincense and myrrh are the scents most people connect with Christmas. In the Christian story, they were two of the gifts the Three Kings brought to the newborn Jesus. Tip: many customers have never burned incense resin. Add a small card to your display: put an incense charcoal tablet in a heat-proof bowl with sand, light it, wait 5 minutes until it turns grey, and add a few grains on top.
Crystal candles for gifts

Between Christmas and Epiphany
The season does not end on 25 December. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the twelve nights until Epiphany on 6 January are known as the Rauhnächte, when many households burn resin and incense to cleanse the home for the new year. In Spain and Italy, the Reyes Magos and Re Magi, the Three Kings, arrive on 6 January, and in Spain it is the main day for presents. So it is worth keeping incense grains and charcoal on the shelf into January.
