Collection: White Sage

White sage

White sage is becoming more popular lately in Great Britain and Europe. It is a plant which normally grows in the southwest of the United States and northwest of Mexico, near the coast. Indigenous Indians from Central America have been using white sages for thousands of years: they believe it protects them from negative influences. Nowadays, in Great Britain and Europe white sage generally gets used to cleanse spaces – this practice is called smudging. Cultivating the plant yourself is difficult, as white sage plants require a warm climate and high temperatures. Therefore, purchase your white sage at Eastern Trading!

How to use white sage

White sage is perfect for cleansing your house of negative energy: evil or loose energy disappears like snow in the sun. Burning white sage also purifies the air and your spirit, meaning you feel reborn after the process. To use white sage as efficient as possible, you generally light it in a small bowl – ideally an Abalone shell. This symbolizes all four elements: de shell stands for water, the sage for earth, the ash for fire and the smoke for air. The sage is supposed to smolder in its shell or bowl whilst you carry it through your home, turning it into something which resembles white sage incense.
