What are incense cones?

Incense cones are made of the same material as incense sticks are. The main difference between the two, is the shape. Incense cones have no stick – it’s pure incense. These cones are rather convenient: they’re small, stable and can be placed anywhere in the house. They are thicker than incense sticks, meaning they will burn quicker and release more smoke and odor. However, we do recommend to burn incense cones inside of a holder. Because there is no stick in the incense cone, it will burn in its entirety. So if you were to put in on a wooden table without holder, it would leave behind a nasty burn mark.

Where are incense cones from?

Most incense cones are made from Makko powder, which is often referred to as Tabu No Ki and is foraged from the Machilus Thunbergii tree. These trees grow in Southeast Asia and can grow up to thirty meters. Makko powder is available in four gradations: the higher the gradation, the stronger the odor is it releases.
